|
Dates: 7-8th June 2012 Venue: Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona Organizers: Democracy, Elections and Citizenship Research Group
Deadline for paper proposals: 15th February 2012
This workshop aims to bring together scholars working on the analysis of political attitude change. We welcome contributions that focus on attitudinal change and rely either on panel surveys or experimental designs. Substantive and methodological papers from both senior and more junior scholars are welcome.
We especially encourage papers that: - analyze short and long term changes in a wide range of political attitudes such as political preferences, political involvement, attitudes towards democracy, etc.
- analyze the consequences of the economic crisis for changes in political attitudes.
- use panel data with more than two waves, use experimental research designs, or use a combination of both.
The following scholars have already confirmed their participation in the workshop: André Blais (University of Montreal), Claes H. de Vreese (University of Amsterdam), Jose Fernández-Albertos (CSIC), Simon Jackman (Stanford University), Martin Kroh (Humboldt University), Michael Lewis-Beck (Univeristy of Iowa), Yotam Margalit (Columbia University), Markus Prior (Princeton University), Willem Saris (Universitat Pompeu Fabra), Natalie J. Stroud (University of Texas).
We invite those interested in participating in the workshop to submit paper proposals (max 500 words) before the 15th February 2012. The paper selection will be notified by 15th March 2012. If accepted, the full paper must be submitted by 31st May 2012. Works should be delivered in English and must be no longer than 8.000 words.
Participants are encouraged to seek funding for travel from their home institutions. However, a limited number of travel grants will be available for the junior participants

The research group on Democracy, Elections and Citizenship (DEC) is part of the Department of Political Science of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. The main goal of the group is the analysis of citizens’ political involvement. For this purpose we develop externally funded projects. Our approach is empirical (we collect and analyze data) and mainly, but not only, quantitative. The group shares a relative short but very intense experience of team work, starting in 2005. In 2009 we have been officially recognized as emergent research group by the Catalan government. The group is currently developing five main research lines: |
